Five Dimes Brewery: Reviews & Ratings
I love this place. This is a beautiful brewery with good ambiance and good beer. Yes, it gets loud on live music nights but isn't it why you go to see a live band : good, loud music? Yes, on these crowded nights there are more people than the staff could serve quickly; but never have I left the place because I wasn't served by a bartender. I have my growlers and keep going back to refill them. Orange Lunatic is my favorite. Not every place is for everybody, but this place is for me, and it will take a lot for me to stop going there. Tuesdays: discount on growler refills; my favorite night :)
Decorative brewery reminiscent of breweries outside of NJ, located in downtown Westwood. I am surprised they are able to show multiple TVs but the town must be more lenient than other NJ towns. Outside seats, long bar, back section for parties and upstairs too. Really cool place. As for beers, yeah decent but still working thru kinks compared to other long standing NJ breweries. That being said, definitely nice place to hangout
If you’re anywhere near Westwood, this spot needs to be on your radar. Solid atmosphere, friendly staff that make you feel right at home, and the beer? Brewed in-house and absolutely top-tier. You can tell they know what they’re doing. Live music on Fridays and Saturdays adds the perfect vibe, great place to unwind with the crew. Highly recommend. Jen is a talented bartender with a great personality and a welcoming vibe. Look for her if you hit this place.
Definitely what the downtown Westwood area needed! This brewery is well crafted, just like their beers. The vibe is really neat and the atmosphere inside is fantastic. I loved the names of the beers as it portrayed a very local feel. They do allow kids, which is great for people with kids to get out, but a tad annoying for people that don't. The building is made of brick so sound bounces and it makes it very loud inside. Almost to the point where is wasn't easy to talk to someone at your own table, thus having kids running around was not an issue on a busy Friday night. It was too cold to check out the rooftop upstairs but I'm sure that would have made for a more intimate date night feel. Overall, super impressed with the location, beer quality, selection and freshness, as well as the amazing staff to serve you. Parking is a tad tricky on the weekends, but if you don't mind walking a few blocks it's fine.
Visited on a late Saturday afternoon. There is no official parking lot, but decent street (metered) parking in the immediate area. The history of this place is pretty cool...they took over a discount (5 and 10-cent) store that had been there for over 60 years. They renovated the space. The space looks great...very spacious and modern with a few decorative nods to the old discount store. There are lots of seats arounds: barstool and counters as well as standard tables and chairs. There is a little split upstairs section which has some additional seating. You can see the brewing tanks on the lower level via viewing windows from the main area, which I thought was cool. On the afternoon we went, they actually had a band there playing live music...mostly some classic rock which was awesome. They do NOT serve food but you are welcome to bring your own. Many people seemed to have pizza boxes and items from the pizza place next door...I'm sure they get good business from here...its hard to stop the hunger crave when the alcohol kicks in...luckily the pizza place is steps away. One minor gripe are the prices. Now I understand this is 2022 and supply costs, inflation, renovation costs, etc...affect the prices consumers pay in the end, but we paid $80 for 5 beers and 2 flights...about $9ish per beer and $15 per flight?!...after tip, it was almost $100 outting, which is not much different from being in Manhattan. I understand going out in 2022 isn't cheap, but this may be good to know for those expected small-town prices. The staff there was very nice and acommodating.
Second time here. Definitely a fun place with live music and great beer. We came here for a Sunday Funday and that’s what we got. No food served bc it’s a brewery so we ordered from the pizza place next door. The bartender was super nice. The band That’s what She Sang gave the perfect vibe for our Sunday Funday. We will be back maybe next time with the guys.
Great place! We came on a Sunday afternoon and saw the best band, That’s What She Sang! Great vibe! Had the customer flavored seltzer which was a nice change of pace. Lived the atmosphere and service- will be back!
Went here for a private event. The space was nice, rooftop and inside space. The staff were friendly. Drinks tasty. Great spot for an event. Paid parking lot around the corner
